Who is Landon Donovan?

You know you have a great future ahead of you in soccer when you are six years old and score seven goals in your first game ever! This is what happened to Landon Donovan, who is considered by many to be the best soccer player from the United States of all time.

He currently plays forward, sometimes as an aggressive midfielder, for the Los Angeles Galaxy, where he was captain until David Beckham showed up.

A fun fact about Donovan is that when he was younger, he came very close to having his feet bitten off by an alligator. That certainly could have changed how his soccer career turned out!



Donovan has trained and played mostly on American soil, except for a stint at Bayer Levekusen. Even when he played for Bayer, he spent most of his time on loan for the San Jose Earthquakes. Recently he has been playing on loan in the English Premier League for Everton FC.

Playing for the United States national team in the last two World Cups, Donovan is the all-time leader in scoring and assists for the US, and has the most caps of all time for current players. He is known for his intense focus and calm, composed attitude on the field.

He knows what he has to do and he goes out there and does it! He is a great leader out on the field, and has a ton of respect from both teammates and opponents all over the world.
